THE ANIMAL INTELLIGENCE™ QUIZ

Which animal runs you under pressure?

Three minutes. Nine questions. The pattern that runs you under pressure, and the runner-up.

MEET THE FIVE

Under pressure, most of us default to one or more of these. Not one of them is the wrong one to be. Each carries real strength that teams and organizations need.

Peacock

PEACOCK

Gets bigger. Takes up the room.

Porcupine

PORCUPINE

Quills up. Pushes back.

Honeybee

HONEYBEE

Takes it all on. Carries everyone.

Turtle

TURTLE

Goes quiet. Gets smaller.

Cheetah

CHEETAH

Moves fast. Decides before anyone can catch up.

What changes is what happens when the pressure rises and the strength gets turned up too high. The question is not which animal you are. It is which one takes over when the heat is on, and what that is costing you.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Senior leaders and high potential managers operating under real pressure. A new scope. A difficult peer. A team that is not landing. A room that keeps going sideways. If you have ever walked out of a meeting knowing you handled it badly and not quite knowing why, this will show you the pattern underneath it.

It is not for you if you are looking for a personality type to put in your bio. This is about what you actually do when the stakes are high, and what it is costing you.

ABOUT THE FRAMEWORK

Smart, ambitious, well-meaning people sabotage themselves every day and don’t know it.

Animal Intelligence™ is a behavioral system built on 25 years inside the rooms where leadership gets tested. It identifies five distinct survival patterns, represented by five animals, that activate when stakes are high.

Each animal has real strengths. Calibrated, they become a leader’s greatest assets: presence, discernment, generosity, depth, decisiveness. Uncalibrated, they wreak quiet havoc, eroding trust, fracturing teams, and undermining the very outcomes the leader is working hardest to achieve.

The hardest part: most people can’t see their own pattern. It feels like personality. It feels like “just how I am.” It isn’t. It’s a survival response running on autopilot. Naming it is the first step to changing it.

TWO THINGS BEFORE YOU START

First, pick one room.

You are not the same person everywhere. Choose one setting and stay in it for all nine questions.

  • The role you are in right now
  • The team you lead or sit on
  • One relationship that matters and is not easy

You can always take it again with a different one in mind.

Second, answer as you are, not as you intend.

There is no good animal here and no bad one. All five are real strengths that cost something when they run unsupervised. So there is nothing to score well on, and nothing to get caught out by.

Which means the only wrong answer is the aspirational one. Not what you would do on a good day. Not what you told your team you do. What you actually do, in that one room, when it gets hot.

If an option makes you wince slightly, that is usually yours.
